Company Profile
U.S. Tobacco Cooperative Inc. (USTC) is a grower owned marketing cooperative located in Raleigh, North Carolina. The cooperative produces 23,000 MT green weight of U.S. flue-cured tobacco grown by 850 member growers in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia. Member grower tobacco is processed and sold as raw materials to cigarette manufacturers worldwide. USTC also produces consumer products for the U.S. market.
USTC is governed by a board of directors made of nine member growers elected by member growers in nine flue-cured growing districts. There is one public director appointed by the Governor of North Carolina. USTC directors serve three-year terms and can be re-elected. Annually, the directors elect one of the ten directors to act as Chairman of the Board. The board of directors meets on the second Friday of every month to develop policy and planning to be carried out by the USTC staff.
USTC wholly owns a subsidiary, U.S. Flue-Cured Tobacco Growers Inc. for the purpose of processing green leaf and manufacturing consumer tobacco products. Annual green leaf processing capacity 14,000 MT dry weight. Annual cigarette manufacturing capacity 10 billion sticks. The facility located in Timberlake, N.C., 50 miles northwest of Raleigh, N.C.
USTC operates a property for the purpose of storing redried strips and by-products. Storage capacity is 35,000 MT. The facility is located in Fuquay-Varina, N.C., 25 miles south of Raleigh, N.C.
